Here we go – The Rugby Zone November Internationals 2018 Team of the Week Round 2…
The outside backs pick themselves with Thomas a standout on meters made, Mckenzie far ahead of anyone else for defenders beaten and Seymour getting the tries. A mention here to DTH Vander Merwe who also got 3 tries but playing against the lesser Kenya.
Radradra was the clear standout in the centers with Aki also having an industrious game.
One of the tightest calls was between Barrett and Pollard at 10.
Barrett had the most run meters out of all the 10s as well as an assist, but Pollard took it because of an all round quality game including 7/7 and Barrett’s general kicking errors.
We’ve moved Tipuric out of position because his work rate was superior to all other flankers except for Underhill who was the clear standout among all teams with a huge 24 tackles (making fellow team of the week member, Damian Mckenzie’s life hell) and 66 meters not including his excellent disallowed try. Mata’s attacking game gives him the nod over other more defensive efforts.
Retallick gets the nod because of his ability to completely wreck England’s lineout ball, while Lavanini was a beast in every aspect of his game. In the front rows, the Argentinean props made a lot of tackles but also got pushed around, so they make way for Alaalatoa and Ma’afu. Marx’s solid throwing effort (16/16) and defensive work rate puts him at 2.
Other close contenders in the forwards included Maro Itoje who made a whopping 20 tackles, and Guilhem Guirado, who scored what was at the time, a decisive try.
